EL PASO, Texas — Seven people went to the hospital following a single-vehicle rollover crash in East El Paso, police said.
Detective Mike Baranyay said the crash occurred early Saturday in the 11300 block of Gateway West.
Police said Maribel Machado, 36, was driving a 2005 Kia Sorento on Gateway West when the vehicle struck a curb. The vehicle traveled across three lanes of traffic and rolled over into a dirt embankment.
No one was ejected from the vehicle, although police said two children were not properly restrained and were riding on the laps of others.
Police identified the adult passengers as Lourdes Rivera, 31; Karina Rivera, 20; Rosa Rivera, 23, and three boys 2, 5 and 11 years old.
The driver was issued citations for alleged failure to control speed and for the unrestrained children.
All the vehicle occupants were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was not suspected of being a factor in the crash.
