KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A former Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department employee pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge in federal court Tuesday, after prosecutors allege he obtained thousands of photos of child sexual abuse material.
Dylan Jamescupp, 34, of Ottawa , pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography Tuesday, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office District of Kansas.
According to a plea agreement filed Tuesday, Jamescupp “uploaded and traded” child sexual abuse material across social media platforms Snapchat and Kik.
Jamescupp created several social media accounts on the platforms, creating new accounts each time his previous accounts were suspended or terminated, the news release said.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received several tips regarding Jamescupp, which were forwarded to the U.S. Secret Service, according to the release.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Jamescupp’s residence on March 28, 2024 , where Jamescupp admitted to viewing child pornography on his phone, according to the plea document.
Jamescupp’s phone data showed he received child sexual abuse material while at the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department , where he worked as an emergency medical technician, the news release said.
Authorities located 2,306 photos and 369 videos of child pornography across four devices tied to Jamescupp, the plea document said. Investigators identified 171 victims across the content.
Jamescupp is set to appear for a sentencing hearing on Nov. 3 , the news release said.
