They survived and were released from a hospital Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Montgomery was charged Thursday with six crimes in the incident. He has requested a court-appointed lawyer.

Separately, Montgomery is charged with first-degree murder in a 2006 cold case, and kidnapping and rape in a 2005 assault. Prosecutor Kym Worthy says the confluence of the cases this week is "astounding."
