QUEENSLAND, Australia — A paramedic was injured Tuesday after a pedestrian smashed his ambulance with a metal bar.
Daily Mail reported that the shattered glass sprayed into the paramedic’s eye. The paramedic was taken to a hospital and treated for an eye injury.
Police said the man, who flagged down the rig, targeted the Queensland Ambulance. He attacked the ambulance at an intersection, which was transporting a patient at the time.
“He pulled out a metal pole and began striking the front driver’s side windscreen,” Maryborough Officer in Charge Marco Polino said.
Officer Polino said the man had earlier smashed the driver’s window and windshield of an unmarked police car.
The man was arrested, but later taken to a hospital after becoming ill while in police custody.
