She is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and after graduation, spent 9 years moving around the country with her husband for his active-duty Army service working in a variety of settings as a dietitian. As a researcher, she investigates how healthy tactical athletes (first responders and members of the military) eat, why they eat the way they do, and effective interventions to help them fuel properly for health and performance.

Megan Lautz is a registered dietitian and strength coach with a Master’s in Sports Nutrition. Megan’s mission is to help first responders perform better, recover faster and enjoy long, healthy retirements. Prior to joining Fairfax Fire and Police in 2021, Lautz worked with Montgomery County Fire and Police from 2017-2021. She has trained for and passed CPAT, completed 24-hour ride-alongs, and is heavily involved in fire recruit training and nutrition. She provides healthy dinner demonstrations, nutrition roundtable discussions, workouts and mobility sessions to career firefighters out in the field. Lautz is the owner of RescueRD, LLC, which provides nutrition seminars and coaching for first responders across the country.

Mandy Nice is Lexipol’s strategic wellness director.
