MSA Brings High-Tech WMD Detection Capabilities to Super Bowl XL

PITTSBURGH - MSA, working in conjunction with the 51st Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team, announced today it will deploy one of its newest hazard detection systems at Super Bowl XL in Detroit, Mi. MSA’s involvement will include the deployment of the MSA SAFESITE Wireless Multi-Threat Detection System throughout and around Ford Field.

The SAFESITE System can monitor and detect up-to six different Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) threats simultaneously and provide data to first responders over a wireless network. The advanced capabilities of the system utilize multiple detection technologies to detect for chemical warfare agents, gamma radiation, volatile organic compounds, toxic industrial chemicals, combustible gas and oxygen deficiency.

“The small, compact size of each detector, along with the wide-ranging WMD detection capabilities makes the SAFESITE System an ideal tool for use in homeland security, emergency response, public event monitoring, building protection and mass transportation safety,” said Kevin McKeigue, MSA Product Manager.

“MSA’s mission and heritage is based on protecting life,” Mr. McKeigue added. “We have a long history of developing and providing sophisticated safety equipment specifically designed to assist first responders and we envision the SAFESITE System playing a key role in our nation’s war on terrorism.”
