GREENVILLE, N.C. — EMS teams are implementing a new CPR technique that centers around constant compressions and not racing patients to the hospital.

9 On Your Side is digging deeper into “Pit Crew CPR” and how emergency responders say it’ll save more lives. “This is this person’s one chance to make it and we’re going to do everything we can right here on scene.”

It’s the main element of Pit Crew CPR that catches people off guard: when your heart stops, paramedics won’t be rushing you to the hospital anymore. Instead, they’ll conduct continuous CPR until you’re revived or pronounced dead.
