MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — A man’s leg was reportedly injured in an accident with a circular saw shortly before noon on Tuesday, July 10 while he was working at a home in Kinnelon’s Smoke Rise community. EMTs brought the man to the Kinnelon High School campus where he was met by a medevac helicopter.
The day after a power saw accident on Hilltop Road, a Vermont man was listed in good condition at Morristown Memorial Hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Kinnelon Police Lt. John Schwartz said the man was airlifted to Morristown Memorial after cutting himself with a power saw.
Lt. Schwartz said police were called to a Hilltop Road residence Tuesday, July 10, at 11:42 a.m. Upon arrival, they found that Benjamin Broughton, 32, of Middlebury, Vt., had suffered a large laceration just above the knee.
A co-worker applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Medics from Chilton Hospital in Pequannock and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad members determined Broughton should be airlifted to a hospital for medical attention. He was taken to the Kinnelon High School Field and flown to Morristown Memorial. Patrolmen Matthew Solari and Mark Ehrenburg responded to the scene.
