OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. — A chief medical examiner suffered a heart attack while on the witness stand at a murder trial Thursday and was revived by jurors.
Oakland County Medical Examiner L.J. Dragovic, 62, had been cross-examined for 30 minutes when his face suddenly turned gray and an attorney shouted “He’s having a heart attack,” according to the Detroit Free Press.
Dragovic was given CPR and started to breathe after an emergency heart defibrillator was used several times on him.
Emergency crews went to the courthouse, and Dragovic reportedly gave a reassuring wave to the courtroom as he was taken away on stretcher.
An official says that he is “resting comfortably” after having an unspecified procedure.
