HONOLULU — A group female EMTs and paramedics have landed in hot water after posing for risqué photos to raise awareness about breast cancer.
The photos taken last June were of female medics posing on ambulances, showing the medics with their shirts unbuttoned with bras and cleavage exposed, KITV said.
The photos were intended to be used for a calendar to raise awareness of breast cancer and bring in money for Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation.
But what started as a well-intentioned way to raise cancer awareness has turned into a minor scandal for City EMS, the Honolulu agency that employees the medics.
Some of the photos went too far, and an EMS supervisor is in trouble over the calendar photos, KITV said.
Director of Honolulu Emergency Medical Service Dr. James Ireland said in a statement: “I recently became aware of some concerns about certain City EMS (Emergency Medical Service) employees participating in a photo shoot for a calendar. I have initiated an investigation into this matter. Details of the inquiry are confidential.”
