Tenn. panel to consider raising ambulance fees

The cost for ambulance service for basic runs would go from $330 to $400, while advanced life support ambulance runs would go from $550 to $600

CLINTON, Tenn. — A special advisory group is proposing rate increases for Anderson County ambulance service, and its recommendations go before a County Commission committee today.

The cost for ambulance service for basic runs would go from $330 to $400, while advanced life support ambulance runs would go from $550 to $600.

Nathan Sweet, director of Anderson County Emergency Medical Services, said county ambulance revenue is forecast to drop because the state is cutting back on reimbursements for ambulance transports of TennCare clients.

Ambulance rates havensincreased since 2005, Sweet wrote in a letter to Operations Committee members.

County commissioners will ultimately decide if the rate hikes are imposed.
