PHILDELPHIA — An investigation is under way after a woman died waiting for an ambulance almost 40 after she collapsed in an airport restroom last month.

The incident happened Jan. 17 as, Jennifer Moore was flying to Philadelphia for her son’s birthday. After calling 911, dispatch records show the only medic unit assigned to the airport was busy on another assignment and unable to help Moore, according to CBS Philly.

After she lost consciousness, three other units were dispatched but returned to their stations without entering the airport terminal she was in, according to the article.

Only after units were dispatched a second time was an ambulance able to reach the woman. She was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

A Good Samaritan who found Moore in the bathroom said she kept asking, “where is the ambulance?”

The Deputy Mayor for Public Safety issued a statement, saying, “The City’s Office of Public Safety has begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Mrs. Moore. An examination of the communications between a civilian who was with Mrs. Moore and the first responders and how these transmissions were impacted by a simultaneous but unrelated incident at the airport are also under review.”
