CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A fire chief and his command staff saved a man in cardiac arrest while covering a shift to give fire personnel a day off.
Fox5Atlanta.com reported Clayton County Fire Chief Landry Merkison and his command staff took over for an entire 24-hour shift to give the crew at Station 1 a night off.
The fire chief invited the sheriff to come along on the fire truck if a call went out.
Thirty minutes after Sheriff Victor Hill arrived at the station, a call came through for a man in cardiac arrest.
Merkison and his team responded to the call, along with Sherriff Hill, and performed CPR on the patient until he was revived.
