MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Aaron White, an emergency medical technician for Manatee County, received statewide recognition recently when the Florida Department of Health named him the state’s EMT of the Year during its Emergency Medical Services Awards presentations.
The county previously recognized White as its 2017 Employee of the Year.
“Aaron is the epitome of going above and beyond the call of duty,” said Bob Smith, the county’s public safety director. “His dedication and professionalism are only surpassed by the fact that he is truly a great guy to work with and be around. He is a shining star of our department, and we’re very proud of him and his achievements.”
White responds to calls for medical and trauma patients in the north sector of the county, providing basic and advanced life support. He also organizes an annual video game bowling tournament at a senior living facility for which he buys prizes, trophies and food. He participates in a special bicycle emergency response team and in community events such as the DeSoto Heritage Parade and Bradenton Boat Regatta.
White is known by his colleagues for providing “exceptional care,” EMS Chief Paul DiCicco said. “Aaron has proven to be a dedicated employee that treats his position as an EMT as a career and not just a job.”
