HOMETOWN, W.Va. — Court records show that a man was arrested Sunday following an incident that injured a paramedic who was trying to help him, WCHS reported.
A homeowner in Hometown had said that a man was slumped over in a running vehicle in their driveway, and first responders responded to that call, according to a criminal complaint filed in Putnam County Magistrate Court.
Paramedics broke a passenger-side window and woke Logan Alecsander Carter, of Hometown, according to deputies. Carter allegedly tried to escape while a first responder was partly in the vehicle and trying to turn it off.
Paramedics said that after Carter woke up, he rolled down his driver-side window but his behavior became erratic after they started asking him questions.
Carter is accused of putting the vehicle in reverse and hitting an ambulance. That caused a medic to fall out of the car and get a head injury from the car door. The paramedic was nearly run over by a tire.
The Hometown man has been charged with malicious assault, DUI causing serious bodily harm and battery on a government employee.
