BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — Police said a man kicked a paramedic and a police officer after being asked to leave a Wendy’s restaurant.

Bolingbrook Patch reported that police responded to a call about suspicious activity in a Wendy’s parking lot, where they learned that William Shimmel had been asked repeatedly to leave.

Police said Shimmel initially left the property, but came back. He was arrested for trespassing and resisting officers’ attempts to put him in custody.

Shimmel was later released on bond, but taken to a hospital due to “a suspected high level of intoxication.” He allegedly became violent with a paramedic during transport and attempted to punch and kick medical personnel when he arrived.

Police said Shimmel kicked a paramedic and a police officer before being restrained.

He was arrested for aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
