Former EMS administrator pleads guilty to embezzling $227K

Michael Gardner admitted that he forged signatures on 44 checks from 2015 to 2017

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A former EMS administrator pleaded guilty to embezzling over $227,000.

Associated Press reported that Michael Gardner, former administrator of Pettis County Ambulance Service, pleaded guilty to bank fraud and said he forged the signatures of board members on 44 checks and took unapproved payroll expenses from 2015 to 2017.

Gardner embezzled a total of $227,648. After two board members suspected fraudulent activity on the district bank accounts, they reported him and he was arrested.

Prosecutors aim to have Gardner sentenced to two years in prison.
