LUFKIN, Texas — Two Lufkin emergency medical technicians think they were unconscious for a few moments after a suspected drunk driver slammed into their ambulance.
But rookie EMT Jennifer Morgan and driver and veteran EMT/Paramedic Laurie Sayre came too quickly enough to treat — and perhaps save the life — of the motorist who hit them.
The incident happened a little over two weeks ago in the predawn hours of Saturday, August Fifth, on state Highway 103 west of Lufkin. The oncoming car slammed into the AmeriCare E-M-S ambulance, sending it rolling into a ditch.
