N.J. EMT squad officer indicted in theft

The treasurer of the Monmouth Beach First Aid Squad was indicted yesterday on charges he stole more than $144,000 from the organization over six years.

The indictment charged Mark Campbell, 34, with theft by deception and official misconduct, as well as with endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly having child pornography on his personal computer, said Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin.

Valentin said Campbell, the treasurer since 1999 and the sole signatory on the first aid squad’s bank account, made numerous withdrawals and debits from the account without authorization from squad members. He also applied for a debit card without the knowledge or authorization from the squad, the prosecutor said. ...
