Investigators looking at weather, mechanical factors in Thursday’s accident that injured pilot, 2 others

CHESTERFIELD, Ind. — The crash of a medical helicopter in nighttime fog early Thursday represents the latest in a fast-rising number of accidents plaguing the industry.
The crash came one week after the National Transportation Safety Board issued a report criticizing the Federal Aviation Administration’s lack of supervision over the nation’s air medical services industry.
The Anderson-based private medical helicopter crashed into the back yard of a home off Ind. 32, a half-mile from Anderson Municipal Airport.
