Wash. bicyclist injured in crash with ambulance

Washington State Patrol says the man failed to yield the right-of-way, but the EMS provider could face charges

OTHELLO, Wash. — A bicyclist was struck by an ambulance Wednesday evening on State Route 26 near Othello, the Columbia Basin Herald reported.

Marco A. Martinez, 29, was heading west when he failed to yield the right-of-way, crossed into the westbound lane, and was hit, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The ambulance stopped at the scene.

Martinez was flown to a hospital for treatment.

The EMS provider who was driving, Wayne S. Allen, and his passenger were not injured and both wore seatbelts.

Allen could potentially face charges in the incident.
