NC EMS provider hurt in ambulance crash after colleague falls asleep at wheel

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police said an EMS provider driving an ambulance fell asleep at the wheel, resulting in a crash that injured the other EMS provider in the rig.

CBS 17 reported that the Alamance County EMS provider driving the ambulance fell asleep and hit a curb before traveling 70 feet and crashing into a concrete wall.

The EMS provider who was a passenger in the rig was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The EMS provider who was driving the ambulance was not injured in the crash.
