BEACH PARK, Ill. — A Beach Park man who apparently ran out in front of an ambulance early Sunday morning is in serious condition at a Libertyville hospital, according to authorities.

The Lake County sheriff’s office said in a statement the pedestrian, Andre Perez, 20, of the 38000 block of North Shore Avenue, Beach Park, was in the area of Sheridan and Beach roads in Beach Park around 1:30 a.m. when he suddenly ran out in front of the northbound Zion Fire Department ambulance. Paramedics onboard immediately began lifesaving treatment of the pedestrian.

The ambulance were on its way back from Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan, after dropping off a patient when the incident occurred. Preliminary investigation indicates Perez ran into the path of the ambulance from the west side of Sheridan Road, said the release. The ambulance did not have its emergency lights and sirens activated.

Perez was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

No charges have been filed at this time pending toxicology results, said the sheriff’s report. The sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigation Unit is conducting the investigation.
