NISSWA, Minn. — Nearly four months after being seriously injured in a medical helicopter crash, a flight paramedic walked down the aisle and tied the knot this weekend.

Flight paramedic Miles Weske, 34, was traveling to pick up a patient Sept. 17, 2016 when the helicopter crashed; two others were also seriously injured.

Pilot Joshua Jones, 47, and flight nurse Scott Scepaniak, 44, were also in the helicopter, reported the Duluth News Tribune. They were both in serious condition, but were later released from the hospital.

Weske spent months in the hospital. He suffered fractures in his neck, leg, clavicle and ribs, reported KARE11. He also suffered a traumatic brain injury and severely damaged his liver. He was released from the hospital Nov. 18, 2016 and was scheduled to return to work Jan. 1.

Weske was originally supposed to marry his fiance, Brooke, who’s also a flight nurse, last October.

The two walked down the aisle Saturday.

“I am a paramedic. I always will be and I want to get back in that helicopter as soon as I can,” Weske said.
