ATHENS, Ala. — A man was arrested for choking a paramedic and injuring a police officer Wednesday morning.
WSFA.com reported that an EMS crew was assessing Jesus Ceja, 26, after family members reported him to be under the influence of an unknown substance. Officers were dispatched to the residence to assist.
Ceja, who was loaded onto a stretcher and placed in a waiting ambulance, began fighting with the EMS crew. An officer said he found Ceja choking one of the paramedics. While two officers worked to get Ceja under control, Ceja lunged and landed on the knee of one of the officers.
Ceja was restrained and transported to the hospital for treatment.
He was charged with two felony counts of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree domestic violence and one count of disorderly conduct.
