LONG ISLAND, New York — A car leaving the scene of an accident slammed into a Nassau County police ambulance that was on the way to the hospital with a patient from an unrelated accident in Valley Stream Thursday evening, police said.
The ambulance was heading north on Franklin Avenue near Emerson Place when the car crashed into it head on, police said.
The medics inside the ambulance suffered minor injuries.
Police arrested the driver of the car and are investigating.
