Md. school bus crash sends 5 to hospital

Emergency officials say the driver of the car was taken to a hospital with serious injuries

ROCKVILLE, Md. — A school bus heading to Fallsmead Elementary School in Rockville has been struck head-on by a car.

A Montgomery County Public Schools spokeswoman says 37 students were on the bus at the time, and four were taken to a hospital as a precaution. They have since been released. Schools spokeswoman Gboyinde Onijala says the bus driver was not injured.

Emergency officials say the driver of the car was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Officials say the car collided with the bus Friday morning about 8:40 a.m. at Wootton Parkway and Hurley Avenue in Rockville.

A substitute bus transported 33 of the students directly to school.
