Md. man struck by lightning while in garage

He was pulling down the garage when it hit, and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

FALLSON, Md. — A man was taken to a hospital after being struck by lightning while he was closing his garage door in Fallston Wednesday night, Harford County fire and rescue officials reported.

The injury was reported at about 10:15 p.m. during an intense line of storms in the 3200 block of Canterbury Lane, off Hess Road, the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association reported on its media Facebook Page.

“The lightning strike was on the outside of the residence and went through the garage striking the patient, who at the time was in the garage of the residence,” the association reported.

Jennifer Chenworth-Price, spokesperson for the Volunteer Fire and EMS Association, said the man was pulling down the door from inside the garage, when the lighting struck him.

The man, who as not been identified, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The Fallston Volunteer Fire Company responded to the incident. Spokesman Dave Williams said he did not have any additional details.

Chenworth-Price said only an ambulance and EMS personnel responded, and she likewise did not have any additional information.
