The EMS Leadership Academy, co-founded by Robbie MacCue and Lisa Giruzzi, helps EMS leaders build stronger organizations by addressing the leadership, communication, culture and workforce challenges facing the profession. Authors of the 2015 book: Making Good of the Order the BEST Part of Your Meetings, Lisa and Robbie have combined their expertise and experience to fulfill their mission, to provide meaningful and effective leadership training in the EMS sector, ensuring organizations have access to qualified leaders for a sustainable and thriving future.

Their combined vision aims to challenge deeply held beliefs, democratize leadership development, and prioritize the well-being of individuals within organizations.
Through practical, systems-focused leadership development, the Academy equips leaders to move beyond short-term problem solving and better understand the structures, assumptions and behaviors that shape organizational results.

Its work helps EMS Leaders:

● See leadership—and their people—differently
● Communicate in ways that create trust, connection and possibility
● Bring out the best in the people they lead
● Create cultures where people thrive, perform and stay

The Academy offers a growing portfolio of leadership training programs for emerging supervisors, experienced managers and executive leaders. Programs include the Essential Communication Course, Advanced Communication Course: The Language of Leadership, and the Keeping the Best coaching and mentoring program, and training focused on increasing engagement, motivation and morale. Courses are designed around practical application, giving EMS leaders tools they can immediately experiment with in conversations, coaching, decision-making and organizational change.

Much of the Academy’s training is delivered through flexible, asynchronous online learning, allowing EMS professionals and entire agencies to access leadership development on their own schedule while applying what they learn in real time.

The EMS Leadership Academy also produces the annual EMS Leadership Summit, which brings together experts and practitioners from across EMS and beyond to explore leadership, workforce sustainability, organizational culture and the future of the profession. Through its training programs, resources and events, the Academy has reached more than 25,000 people from more than 44 countries.

Across its work, the EMS Leadership Academy encourages leaders to look beyond individual problems and ask a larger question: What system is producing the results we are currently getting? By helping leaders shift from reactive problem-solving toward intentional, responsive leadership, the Academy supports EMS organizations in becoming more resilient, adaptive and sustainable.
