BIRMINGHAM, England — A man who assaulted a paramedic because of where an ambulance was parked was released by police with a warning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedic Tasha Starkey, who witnessed her partner be assaulted by the man who also threatened her, said she is “disappointed” by the outcome, BBC reported.

“Unfortunately received news last night that the patient that was physically and verbally aggressive and extremely threatening to us that he’s just received a caution,” Starkey said in a tweet. “Extremely upset, disappointed and let down by this outcome.”

West Midlands Police Superintendent Paul Minor said the department takes first responders assaults “very seriously,” but that police took “appropriate” action.

“In interview, the man admitted being verbally aggressive and striking one of the paramedic’s arms,” Minor said. “The man had no previous convictions and in this case a police caution was deemed the most appropriate outcome.”
