EMT accused of assaulting patient gets probation

Samuel Conkel faces up to 18 months in prison if he violates the terms of his probation

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio — An EMT who was accused of assaulting an unconscious patient in an ambulance was sentenced to probation.

Samuel Conkel, 24, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault; he has been sentenced to five years of probation, reported the Dayton Daily News.

An affidavit stated that during transport, the patient was in and out of consciousness and at one point was aware that Conkel’s hand was inside her shirt. He was initially charged with gross sexual imposition, but the charge was dismissed in October 2016.

Should Conkel violate the terms of his probation, he faces up to 18 months in prison.
