A judge sentenced a Fort Wayne man to probation Wednesday for taking an emergency radio and oxygen machine while he was enrolled in an emergency medical technician class.
Jonathon P. Lemons, 25, of the 1300 block of Michigan Avenue, was charged in September with two felony counts of receiving stolen property.
He pleaded guilty to both charges Wednesday as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, who recommended a 1 1/2 -year suspended jail sentenced and 1 1/2 years of probation.
Magistrate Robert Schmoll imposed that agreement.
According to court documents, Lemons told police he took the items while enrolled in an EMT class at the Adams County EMT Building on May 11. He took a Motorola two-way radio from Adams County EMS and a Nellco Oxygen Saturation and Pulse Rate machine from Adams Memorial Hospital, the latter of which is used in the emergency room next door to EMS.
Police began investigating Lemons after he showed up at two places and identified himself as either a Monroeville firefighter or emergency medical technician.
