AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — Police arrested a man who admitted to shattering the windshield of an ambulance by throwing a cup at it.

Aiken Standard reported that two EMS providers were en route to a call with sirens activated when the cup struck the windshield of the ambulance, causing it to shatter and sending “shards of glass” throughout the cab, according to the report.

The two EMS providers approached the suspect, Teddy Bennett, who allegedly said he was “tired of these damn sirens running up the road.”

The report said Bennett also threatened the two EMS providers.

When deputies arrived, they said the suspect was in his backyard “talking through a karaoke machine.”

Bennett allegedly told investigators he threw the cup because he wanted them to turn the sirens off. He was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree assault and battery and malicious injury to personal property.
