The Medic Mindset podcast is created and hosted by Ginger Locke, BA, NRP. As an associate professor of EMS Professions at Austin (TX) Community College, she has immersed herself in the art and science of how medics think and perform. In interviews with medics and subject-matter experts, she thoughtfully explores the inner-workings of the minds of medics. Prior to becoming a paramedic, she studied social psychology at the University of Georgia and the University of Leicester, UK. Her professional endeavors revolve around the conviction that the most important and complicated tool in EMS in the brain of the medic.

Chief Tom Wetzel is a 32-year veteran police officer and currently leading a northeast Ohio suburban police department. A former SWAT commander, he is an adjunct professor in community policing, a certified law enforcement executive and a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College. An instructor for Northcoast Polytechnic Institute, Chief Wetzel is an internationally published author for numerous police trade publications and a black belt in Goshin Jujitsu. He co-developed a school/community policing children’s Internet and stranger danger safety program called e-Copp, an educational children’s online protection program.

Randall D. Larson retired after 20 years in public safety communications, serving as a shift supervisor, trainer and field communications supervisor for the San Jose (California) Fire Department. Larson was also the editor of 9-1-1 Magazine from 1995 to 2009 and its online version from 2009 to 2018. He currently resides among the northern California Redwoods writing in a number of fields of interest.

Aaron Zamzow is a fire lieutenant for the Madison (Wisconsin) Fire Department with 20 years of experience as a fitness trainer and host of the Better Every Shift podcast. He holds a bachelor’s degree in health and wellness as well as a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification. He is an NSCA-certified strength and conditioning specialist, an NASM certified personal trainer and an ACE-certified peer fitness trainer. Zamzow is the founder and owner of FireRescueFitness.com and develops programs aimed at getting fire rescue athletes fit for duty. Bryan Wilson is the Senior Project Manager, Professional Services, for Lexipol, where he oversees a team of representatives who help law enforcement, corrections, probation and fire agencies implement Lexipol policies. He served for nearly 30 years with the County of Ventura (California) Probation Agency, where he developed and wrote the agency’s Exposure Control Plan, the Respiratory Protection Plan and the Heat Illness Prevention Plan, as well as updated the Illness and Injury Prevention Plan. Bryan was also responsible for the annual management review of both plans. He held multiple assignments during his tenure, including Professional Standards Unit, staff training, work furlough/work release, juvenile facilities, juvenile placement, adult and juvenile investigations, adult field supervision and Public Information Officer. Bryan holds a master’s degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s College in Camarillo, CA; he also studied at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Robert VanNieuwenhuyze is a content developer for Lexipol. He served 26 years with the Smithfield Police Department in Rhode Island, retiring as deputy police chief.
