RUIDOSO, N.M. — A man was jailed and faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing and crashing an ambulance belonging to the Mescalero Apache Tribe from the Lincoln County Medical Center on Monday.

Dustin Poolaw, 33, of Ruidoso, had been at the medical center after police found him allegedly intoxicated and causing issues with people, KOB4 reported. He is accused of stealing the unlocked ambulance after he was released from the hospital.

Court documents say the rig was found crashed into a tree and abandoned at an intersection less than a mile from the hospital.

Police found Poolaw after they received calls about a man walking on a roadway, appearing intoxicated and waving a gun. They arrested him and found keys to the ambulance when they booked him into custody.
