"At 11:48 p.m., we heard a Mayday call over the radio twice," White said.

White said Johns was a quiet, but personable employee, and he will be “sorely missed.”

According to White, the driver of the ambulance was “devastated” by the incident.

National Highway Patrol was thanked by White, who said the escort of John and the patient who also died was “very touching.”
