Medic critical after 'medical emergency' on call

The unidentified paramedic was on a routine call when he suffered the "emergency"

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minn. paramedic is in critical condition after suffering a medical emergency while responding to a call.

Hennepin County EMS spokesperson Robert Ball said the paramedic was tending to a patient Monday night when he suffered the medical emergency. The paramedic's partner had to help him and the patient until other crews arrived, according to KARE 11.

"It was a pretty routine call, not something you expect to happen," Ball said.

Ball did not specify what the medical emergency was, but confirmed that the unidentified paramedic is in critical condition.

Counseling is being offered to those affected by the incident.
