ANAHEIM, Calif. — A Disneyland Hotel employee and a guest were transported to an area hospital Friday, Aug. 18, with difficulty breathing following a chlorine leak, a park official said.

They were released later in the day, the spokeswoman said.

Shortly after 8 a.m. a worker performing excavation accidentally severed a chlorine line between the hotel’s pool and Goofy’s Kitchen. The line serves the pool.

As a precaution, hotel guests were asked to remain in their rooms and employees were evacuated.

Anaheim firefighters evaluated and treated a number of hotel employees and guests at the scene for various medical issues. At least nine ambulances and several fire engines were on the scene.

The leak was contained and guests were allowed to leave their rooms at around 10:15 a.m.
