Meet your speakers

Melody Morales, Program Manager for the johnson county ems system

Melody Morales is the medical director program manager for the Johnson County EMS System.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  Melody has worked at various hospitals throughout the KC area in various departments including; the Emergency Department, Interventional radiology, and Quality Resources.  In her current role, she manages the EMS System Quality Assurance/Continuous Quality Improvement Program.  She monitors system clinical performance for nine fire departments and MED-ACT, the county ambulance service, through creating key performance indicators and outcome/performance measures, as well as maintaining clinical registries.  She also works collaboratively with area hospital TCD coordinators in order to improve care continuity.

Brian Schoenig, Paramedic with the Johnson County Med-Act

Brian Schoenig is a St. Louis native and began his career as a paramedic with Johnson County Med-Act in February of 1996.  He earned his Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Kansas in 2005.  Brian coordinated the department’s ESO implementation in 2019, and soon after was promoted to the rank Division Chief. Med-Act is a 3rd service EMS agency serving Johnson County, Kansas, which is a suburb of Kansas City.
