S.C. fire chief says paramedic shortage is severe

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — Earlier this month, we reported that Horry County Public Safety Director Paul Whitten was conducting a salary review of the Horry County Police Department because a good number of officers who quit cited low salaries as a prime reason.

Whitten said he is also going to look into the salaries of County paramedics.

Whitten said, “We don’t want them leaving, we’re a good organization, have a good department, we want to keep our good paramedics here and we’re going to have to look at the salary on them.”
