Job Description

Ground Paramedic

Pecos EMS operated by First Fight is the sole 911 provider for the City of Pecos and Reeves County. Pecos EMS strives to provide critical care access in rural West Texas. Patient care comes first, and we provide patients with the latest in pre-hospital care.

Position Summary: The Ground Paramedic provides customer oriented, high quality patient care, in a safe and efficient manner. In every situation, the Ground Paramedic does what is right for the patient based on a thorough clinical and aggressive protocol.

Schedule: 4 days on, 8 days off on a rotating schedule (96 hours on and 192 hours off)

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Respond to Reeves County 911 calls

· Provide an immediate course of treatment en-route to hospital or at the scene based on standing orders

· Use technical equipment, including ventilators, defibrillators, VLS, EZ IO to treat and stabilize patients

· Carry out certain critical care procedures, such as intubation, RSI, DSI, surgical airway, pneumothorax decompression, field antibiotics, and io insertion

· Monitor the patient's condition using Zoll X series

· Liaise with members of other emergency services

· Work closely with doctors and nurses in hospital and emergency departments

· Deal with members of the public and family members present at the scene

· Clean, decontaminate and check vehicles and equipment to maintain a state of operational readiness

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

· Current state of Texas paramedic certification/license

· Current AHA ACLS, AHA BCLS, AHA PALS and NRP provider (obtain within 1 year of hire date)

· BTLS, PHTLS, or advanced trauma course

· CCEMTP, National Certification, CCP-C or FP-C Preferred

· Accountability for strong customer service

· Ability to maintain composure under pressure; work efficiently and accurately with frequent interruptions; and set and reset multiple priorities

· Remains current on EMS protocols

· Participates in public relation events, in-services, quality management, and staff meetings

· Ability to read, write and speak English

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to conduct activities requiring a moderate amount of standing, sitting, and walking

· Able to conduct activities requiring a moderate to rigorous amount of static pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting (knuckle height and ankle height)

· Capable of lifting 75 lbs. floor to bench height

· Must be able to wear a commercially available respirator mask with proper fit, when required

· Requires close and distant visual capability
