Job Description

Under the supervision of the Security Captain and, if necessary, under the direction of a licensed medical professional or designated healthcare provider, the remote site Security/Medic Technician performs a variety of security related functions in a remote camp on the North Slope of Alaska, and when necessary, administers emergency medical treatment. Primary duties at this location are security related. Incumbents in this position are required to be firearms licensed, trained and qualified. This is a rotational position working a schedule of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off on the North Slope of Alaska. The point of hire will be Anchorage or Fairbanks and the anticipated start date is June 2021.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The employee will be required to live and work in a remote and confined workspace for extended periods of time and exposure to work assignments consisting of twelve-hour days and able to work day or night shifts as required. The majority of the work is performed in a remote setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities. There may be a lack of immediate access to critical medical services as well as urban community services. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Applicant will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical and Functional Capacity Exam (also known as a fitness for duty test).

Job Requirements

  • Age: 21
  • Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent
  • Experience: Prior work experience in private security, military service, law enforcement or a related field

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • EMT III certification or MICP (State of Alaska)
  • Prior work experience in private security, military service, law enforcement or a related field
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Possesses, or able to obtain, class B Commercial Driver License with passenger endorsement
  • Possesses, or able to obtain, State of Alaska Security Guard License
