Job Description

**Maintain and repair fleet of emergency vehicles and par transit vehicles for internal and external customers. Ability to work on other vehicles as time allows. Ensure vehicle availability for operations to meet daily operational needs and that all fleet vehicles are safe and to the highest of standards for operation **

++Essential Functions:++

Performs routine and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Inspects, tests and diagnose problems and perform independent skilled mechanical repair work
Performs appropriate repair, removal, replacement, rebuilding or maintenance work on vehicle/equipment systems and components
Maintains vehicle/equipment service records, warranty records or other documentation of work activities
Responsible for all main shop operations and activities including opens and closes shop, work stations, computers; prioritizes and assigns projects, work order and work activities
Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment and monitors work environment to ensure safety of all individuals; reports all accidents and incidents to management immediately
Promote positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees, customers and visitors

Additional Information


High school diploma or GED. Minimum 18 years of age. Possession of valid and unrestricted Driver’s License with insurable driving record and annual driving record check. Possess and maintain valid Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Technician Certification in A4 (suspension and steering) and A5 (brakes for both automobiles and heavy/medium trucks). EVOC certificate to be obtained within 30 days of employment, pre-employment physical examinations/medical history check.

Required: Supplemented by vocational/technical training in mechanics and automotive/mechanical maintenance; supplemented by five (5) years previous experience and/or training involving mechanics, automotive/mechanical maintenance, welding, vehicle/equipment operation; **or **any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job may be considered.

Preferred: Certification in Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission Ambulance Technician Exams in Maintenance, Inspection, Testing of Ambulances; Design & Performance Standards of Ambulances; Ambulance Cab, Chassis and Powertrain; Ambulance Electrical Systems: Ambulance Heating, Air-Conditioning and Ventilation Systems.

Other Requirements: Must have personal hand-tool set sufficient to perform duties.
