Job Description

Working under the supervision of the in-house Medical Director and Program Manager, in a social detox setting that serves all member in the community through support, providing promotion of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and alleviation of suffering through the assessment and treatment of physical and behavioral health conditions. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, provides and maintains a supportive, hopeful, empathetic, and engaging environment for individuals seeking help with detoxification.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Working under the supervision of the in-house Medical Director and Program Manager, in a social detox setting that serves all member in the community through support, providing promotion of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and alleviation of suffering through the assessment and treatment of physical and behavioral health conditions. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, provides and maintains a supportive, hopeful, empathetic, and engaging environment for individuals seeking help with detoxification. JOB FUNCTIONS:Contributes to a welcoming atmosphere. Provides patient care assessments and first aid for chronic and/or non-urgent health conditions and completes all necessary medical documentation Basic knowledge of vital sign assessments including, but not limited to, blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oximeter, glucometer, and any other assessment tools used by Common Ground Obtains vital signs and ensures safe monitoring practice within normal limits Provides intervention for individuals in acute detox situations Assesses need for emergent medical care of seriously unstable individuals, consulting with the Physician, Registered Nurse, and/or Program Director as needed Coordinates transfer of care if warranted Implements standing orders Participates in shift report ensuring that appropriate information is communicated to the next shift Ensures medication education and consents are signed prior to administration Administers medications as per physician order. Monitors and documents the use, effectiveness, and side effects. Reports all unusual events or medication errors committed and/or observed Maintains safe storage of all medications, including stock and those provided by the individual Orders stock medications and medical supplies. Communicates with pharmacy as needed Communicates with referral sources and facilitates a safe/warm transfer Completes detailed, accurate, and timely documentation Participates in training and orientation of new employees Adheres to established program/agency policy and procedures Performs other duties as assigned 

Job Requirements

  • Education: Valid Paramedic License in state of Michigan. , Current BLS card.Valid drivers license with Clean driving record.
  • Experience: 1 YEAR.

de-effects Knowledge of the 5 rights of medication administration Must have sufficient reading/writing skills Ability to provide direct care and treatment for individuals in acute detox Knowledge of the most common chronic health conditions, and co-occurring conditions in this population Ability to provide general medical care to individuals with chronic health conditions, specifically substance withdrawal, and assessing the need for emergent care Ability to relate to a diverse population of individuals which includes a variety of abilities, ages, and gender orientations. As well as economic, education, and cultural backgrounds Ability to apply trauma-informed, recovery-oriented principles, and values in the treatment of all people served Ability to follow all safety guidelines for both staff and individuals served Excellent assessment and communication skills Maintains professional communication with all internal and external contacts Ability to work independently, and apply critical thinking/decision making skills Ability to work with multi-disciplinary team Knowledge of current behavioral management de-escalation techniques Ability to deal with volatile situations in a safe, calm, caring manner Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook; basic computer skills Ability to work positively with consumers, co-workers, and supervisors JOB CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS T The work environment may subject staff to behavioral and medical problems that could be physically hazardous. Works in a residential/clinical environment Adheres to Common Ground policy on confidentiality.
