Job Description

As a Flight Nurse, you will provide excellence in nursing care of the critically ill and injured patient via Air medical transport in a state of the art twin engine EC 135 helicopter. With minimal supervision the Flight Nurse is responsible for providing management and care of patients during transport in accordance with policies and procedures and standard operation guidelines established by Midwest MedAir and the Medical Director, both on and off the line. The Flight Nurse is also expected to work together with the Flight Paramedic and Pilot in Charge to determine what is the safest and in the best interest for all patients encountered. The Flight Nurse is also responsible for developing an understanding of flight physiology as to how it relates to patient care.

Job Requirements

  • Education: : Nebraska RN License in good standing
  • Experience: : 5 years of ICU or ER perferrably a level I or II Facility
Must hold current, unencumbered License for the state of Nebraska or hold a Compact State Registered Nurse. Minimum 5 years active RN experience in ICU or ER. Prefer Level I ED and or Surgical ICU.
  • PHTLS within 60 days of hire
  • TNATC, ATLS Audit Course within 90 days of hire.
  • CFRN within 18 months of hire
Prefer: 1 year of flight experience Prefer: Instructor certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC
Prefer: EMT or Paramedic certifications Successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
