ILOCR First Aid PICO questions open for public comment

Task forces are categorizing questions into one of four categories

By EMS1 Staff

EDEGEM, Belgium — In 2015, the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation announced that they were moving toward a more continuous evaluation of resuscitation science.

ILCOR has now begun the continuous evidence evaluation process. The agency’s task forces are reviewing the PICO questions from the 2005, 2010 and 2015 International Consensus Conferences.

Using some guiding questions and relying on the expertise of the co-chairs and members, the task forces categorized the questions into one of four areas:

  1. Reactivate and review wording
This includes the review of old and new PICO questions.
  2. Repose
PICO questions deemed to not have any new science currently, but are still relevant, may be reviewed in the future. They will be revisited for possible reactivation.
  3. Reassign
PICO questions or topics best covered by another task force or domain.
  4. Retire
PICO questions for which no change in science or practice is anticipated.

ILCOR is now soliciting feedback on the categorization of the First Aid Task Force PICO questions here. The public comment period will close on Oct. 24 at 12 a.m. UTC.
