ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania ambulance responding to a multi-vehicle crash was struck by a tractor-trailer Monday, resulting in minor injuries to the crew and severe damage to the rig.

The tractor-trailer rolled over and the medics inside the ambulance helped extricate the driver who had become trapped, according to a post on social media by Ross West View EMSA.

“The crew was seated and belted when struck and only sustained minor injuries, thank god,” the EMS service said on Facebook.

Another ambulance was sent to the original multi-vehicle crash and additional crews responded to assist with the second crash.

Ross West View EMSA said the rig is believed to be totaled and other vehicles involved were also significantly damaged.

“We do not post this looking for any type of judgement. Police will conduct a detailed crash investigation,” the service said on Facebook. “We simply ask that you keep our crews in your thoughts and prayers and please, please, please – slow down when you see us working on the highway.”
