SAN DIEGO — Arthur Curry, 27, who has worked as an EMT and a volunteer firefighter, will soon join the battle in Ukraine, San Diego’s NBC 7 reported.
Curry said that after watching the bombings in Ukraine, he decided to apply online to join the International Legion of Defense of Ukraine, a volunteer foreign legion military unit created by the Government of Ukraine at the request of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to fight in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Curry hopes to use his first responder training to help.
“I know how to stop bleeding. I know how to respond to someone if they’re having a seizure, how to wrap a broken bone,” he said. "... These people, they just need help.”
Curry departs in about two weeks.
