Los Angeles — A divided Los Angeles City Council voted Tuesday to equip paramedics with high-tech computer tablets to enhance patient treatment while streamlining billing for emergency medical services — ultimately boosting revenue for the Fire Department.
The council voted unanimously to lease the “Field Data Capture System” devices from Scan Health Inc., better known as Sansio, for $10 million over six years.
The council debated for nearly three hours on whether to hire Advanced Data Processing Inc. to take over the work performed by LAFD’s Ambulance Billing Section, and take a 5.5 percent cut of whatever debts are collected.
