CHICAGO —The ambulance stolen from a firehouse and driven in a police chase Monday is a total loss, city inspectors concluded.
The Chicago Fire Department said the Chicago Department of Assets, Information and Services inspected the ambulance, and it “will be stripped out and scrapped,” WLS reported.

CHICAGO — A man was arrested Monday after leading police on a 2-hour chase in a stolen Chicago Fire Department ambulance.
The ambulance was parked when a man jumped in and sped off, Fox 32 reported.
The Illinois State Police reported no passengers or patients were inside the ambulance.
The pursuit on southbound Interstate 55 spanned more than 70 miles. The ambulance came to a stop near Dwight after riding on a rim. The driver took off on foot, Fox 32 reported, ran across the median and into oncoming traffic before being tackled by police officers and taken into custody.
